MY STORY
Against sound advice from close friends and relatives, I decided to pursue a career as a creative in the film industry because television was the storytelling medium that meant the most to me. Being a kid of the ‘90’s, I grew up on VHS rentals and basic cable, so I watched a fair number of programs and commercials as a kid. The few commercials that successfully stopped me from switching the channel, and still stick with me, were the ones that used story-driven devices to unite an idea with sincere emotion. They inspired me to spend hours filming home videos with my friends and family. They showed me it was possible to accomplish incredible work in this field, and that people with ambition and passion can change the world for the better.
Like many, I struggled to break through at first. Each production humbled me. And at the time, every step forward felt small and insignificant. But as my career developed, I met and worked with like-minded individuals to produce work for remarkable brands and organizations that never wasted an opportunity to let the world know who they were and what they represented. They proved that bold, authentic storytelling was at the heart of every standout marketing strategy, regardless of the service or product. It was what distinguished exceptional brands and organizations from others in markets saturated with a surplus of options.
As the world continues to grow noisier and overly complicated, we’re given fewer chances to make a lasting impact on people and secure our place as leaders in our respective industries. That’s why I ensure everything I do is driven by the needs and goals of the client. I work hard to make sure that the projects I produce act as the voice and advocate for the brands and organizations that trust me with their story. I collaborate with senior supervisors and external partners to create and deliver campaigns that help outstanding organizations thrive in unprecedented change. I want to invest in their mission and contribute to their longevity because I still believe that the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that often succeed at doing just that.
AS A DIRECTOR
I work closely with department heads and technicians to develop and assemble the client’s script and mission into innovative, story-driven sequences that align with their brand and project objectives without compromising the ethos that make their story unique and worth sharing. I supervise the actors and technical crew to make sure all aspects of production stay on track and within budget, while fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment for everyone both on and off set. Regardless of the client or scope of the project, I approach each production with the same level of commitment and attention to detail because I want the world to see the projects I help bring to life. I begin and end each production with that goal in mind.
AS A PRODUCER
I collaborate with creative directors and other external partners to conceptualize and develop sales pitches, giving critical input on technical requirements, creative concept, and project execution. I initiate, coordinate, supervise, and manage logistics for production, advising teams on setup and project objectives, managing pre-production tasks including budgeting, scheduling auditions, hiring crew, and obtaining any required permits. I develop and maintain relationships with new and established clients to better understand their goals and vision while providing customized solutions for production that fit within the clients’ budgets and schedule constraints.
AS AN EDITOR
I assemble a project’s RAW footage and other media assets into outstanding deliverables that align current project needs with overarching brand goals to best serve the client’s story and meet leadership’s vision. I collaborate with creative directors to develop and refine a postproduction workflow that allows us to finish polished media packages while working under critical deadlines. I communicate with the marketing team to ensure that all deliverables meet the export criteria needed for broadcast and social media standards, while utilizing performance data to optimize outreach and increase viewership, maximizing desired audience engagement and retention.
AS A COLORIST
I collaborate with a project’s director and director of photography to develop and refine rich color schemes that add atmosphere and emotional depth to a project, shaping the overarching mood and visual style. I normalize any color errors or inconsistencies in the footage and match footage from different cameras, lighting setups, locations, or light sources. In today’s world, storytelling through the specific use of color is more important than ever. Colors can influence consumer behavior and act as a visual representation of the specific principles you may want the public to associate with your product or services. Great brands and organizations understand the impact color can have on a successful marketing campaign, and rely on colorists like me to produce eye-catching visuals that evoke a certain emotional response from their perceived audience.
